The Trinity: Cheese, Bread and Beer

Following on from the success of the Beer, Bread & Cheese Tasting & Tour hosted at the Bristol Beer Factory Brewery in July, a second event takes place on Tuesday August 24th in another fantastic venue: the stunning St Thomas the Martyr Church, Redcliffe. Designed by James Allen, the church features a handsome east end and has something of the style and impact of a church in Rome, whilst the interior is one of the best in Bristol featuring a host of surprises including the superb 18th century organ case.

Jess Trethowan who will be hosting the event comments: “The event is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a real hands-on introduction to the great flavours and tastes of artisan cheese, bread and beer, and to learn how they can work together in harmonious pairings. The Cheese Maker, Baker and Head Brewer will be on hand to talk about their products and give an insight into what makes their products, the result of years of knowledge and passion, so very special.”

About us all

Trethowan’s Dairy makes the multi-award winning Gorwydd Caerphilly, winner of Best Traditional Cheese at the World Cheese Awards. They run stalls at Borough Market in London and St Nick’s Market in Bristol, where their regular Wednesday Raclettes and ‘Toastie ‘as featured on BBC4’s  ‘In Search of the Perfect Loaf’ are becoming something of a legend!

Mark’s Bread is a small craft bakery making hand made bread from the best ingredients using traditional methods. Many of their breads are made without the addition of commercial yeast, but with naturally occurring ‘wild’ yeasts and friendly bacteria cultivated in levain (sourdough). Other ‘yeasty’ breads are made with a pre-fermentation (poulish).

Bristol Beer Factory will be showcasing some new and exciting beers at the events including ‘Mountain Goat’ IPA, winner of their inaugural Homebrew Competition, a German-style Wheat Beer, as well as the National Award winning ‘Milk Stout’.
